Lockdown Lounging Led Australian Swimwear Brand to Sleepwear Pivot’

Sydney, Australia, 14 September 2021, In some parts of Australia right now they are experiencing their toughest lockdown and restrictions yet, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but that hasn’t stopped one Sydneysider, Julianne Bobanovic from expanding her successful swimwear brand.

PLIVATI swimwear launched in late 2019, born out of a frustration in finding more modest swimwear and a desire for prints reminiscent of the Croatian coast and family holidays. Julianne initially created Women’s & Mens swimwear though quickly moved into the addition of a matching Children’s range and accessories.

Though there have been challenges along the way (as with all new start ups), Julianne’s first Summer launch was overrun with the bushfires that raged all over Australia, striking NSW the hardest. “It was a disaster for so many people and families that Summer, they lost their homes or were caught in small towns on holiday without any passage of escape.”

Julianne says: “It was definitely one of the worst bushfire seasons I’ve seen in my time.” “We were on a family holiday at the time down the coast where the sky was dark and thick with smoke early in the afternoon. It was really quite a frightening time and we were fortunate to have been able to get out of the area. A Summer that will forever be remembered, that’s for sure.”

In 2020, Covid-19 sent the world into panic and fear. It was a challenging time for many small and large businesses having to close, change the way business operated and find ways to pivot current business models to navigate the changes the industries faced, particularly in the retail e-commerce industry.

Now, just over half way through 2021 and no clear end of the pandemic in site, Julianne and her brand PLIVATI swimwear is grateful to have survived as a small business with customers from all over the world and has now expanded into sleepwear.

Julianne adds: “Our customers absolutely love our custom prints on our swimwear. We always wanted to expand in the future and with the ever evolving pandemic, sleepwear seemed like the perfect addition to PLIVATI.”

Not content with keeping sleepwear under the name PLIVATI, with the brand name meaning ‘Swim’ in Croatian, Julianne has created a new label for her sleepwear range called SPAVATI which means ‘Sleep’ in Croatian.

The range includes organic Cotton pyjamas available in the signature ‘Fig’ & ‘Adriatic’ prints that can be mixed and matched with SPAVATI sleep t-shirts, ‘Lemon’ sets in soft satin and lace fabric and some Christmas PJ’s are also in the works for Women & Men with a children’s range to be added at a later date.

Perfect for ‘lounging around’ and a comfortable nights sleep, the sizing ranges from a Ladies regular Australian size 8 through to size 18 and prices start from $49.95 AUD.

Available at https://www.plivati.com.au/collections/spavati-sleepwear and also in store soon at the new flagship store SILA Lane, Camden, NSW Australia which Julianne is hoping to open in the coming months.
