Our skin tends to feel drier and more sensitive due to the cold windy weather and indoor heating during winter. However, there are a few ways you can help keep your skin soft and smooth and Dove Skin Expert, Kirti Sharma shares her top four tips.

Tip 1: Hydrate from within

We know that drinking water is good for all over hydration and that includes your skin. While we tend to drink more in summer because of the heat, we need to remember to keep up the hydration in the cooler months too. This can include herbal teas, soups or flavouring your water with fruits for a touch of natural flavour.

Tip 2: Tweak your shower products

As the seasons change you may want to swap your body washes for a product with a little more nourishing power. Dove’s Triple Moisturising Body Wash includes ¼ moisturising cream and 24-hr nourishment technology to help replenish the skin’s natural nutrients. What’s more, Dove has just launched a 1.5L Re-Fill Body Wash Pouch to keep your bottle topped up. Featuring 50% more product and 70% less plastic, you’ll be doing your shower routine a favour and the planet too.

Tip 3: Exfoliate head to toe

You can use all the moisturising shower and body products but without a light buff of the skin, you’ll still feel like your skin is dry and even flaky. Pick up a soft exfoliating mitt or glove 1-2 times per week to gently rid of dry skin and allow skin underneath to properly absorb your body washes and moisturisers. Make sure you exfoliate in soft circular motions to avoid damaging any deeper layers of skin.

Tip 4: Moisturise is essential

A simple way you can treat your dry skin is applying a moisturiser that is suited specifically for dry skin. Apply moisturiser as soon as you get out of the shower (after your body wash and exfoliation) and let it absorb before you get dressed.
